The Fox and the Rose, Vol. 2 – Out now!

Spying and statecraft…

Laurel and Shigeru travel to Suzhou on the orders of Her Highness Li Jiayi. Old friends and new faces will test the bond between the princess’s son and the fox diplomat—and none more than the city’s governor, a charming and dangerous man named Wu Xiaoli.

The story of Laurel and Shigeru continues in Volume 2 of The Fox and the Rose, a BL (MM historical fantasy romance) story about the youngest literati set in ancient China amid dangerous court politics and supernatural wonders.

In case you missed it, I finally kicked Book 2 in The Fox and The Rose series out of the next. Volume 2 is up and available in eBook and paperback.

I’d love to do a longer postmortem on this at some point (and frankly to scream a little about a certain spoiler that’s been killing me for like a year straight, having to keep it to myself).

But for now, here is the link! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it. It was good to visit Laurel and Shigeru again <3

The Fox and the Rose, vol. 2

I’m finishing up the edits on the next book in The Fox and the Rose series, and I can’t wait to show it to you. I’m excited to continue writing in the next book in the series, but also I am looking forward to taking a short break to finish off Koreatown.

I might be doing the cover art for this one myself! Here’s one sketch for the book cover. I might post the other thumbnails I did later if I can dig out my sketchbook (paper, like it’s 2004) in better lighting. <3

My art isn’t where I’d like it to be yet. I wish I could make more stunning illustrations! But I think I’m coming to realize that if I don’t start now, I’ll never get to where I’m hoping to go. So maybe we just enjoy the process.

The Fox and the Rose

I have a new book coming out in July. It’s one I’ve lived with for quite a while now—longer than I live with most stories before finishing them. I think I’ve been working on this for the better part of a year.

This book is my love letter to a lot of things—my love letter to research, for one. Also to danmei and Chinese culture. In a brief fit of shitposting combined with Trying to Figure Out How to Do Instagram, I made one of those silly little “trope maps.”

I suppose this post also functions as a cover reveal! If you’d like to check out the book and place a preorder, you can do both of those things here:
